I can't seem to respond to sitesell's answer to my previous review. But I really want to, so I'm crossing my fingers this shows up. I can guarantee that all the links were working fine, and even my YouTube videos disappeared, showing a message that said 'account closed.' I definitely didn't shut it down.

I really like the product, but their tech support? Not a fan. I'm pretty low maintenance, but they sure have a knack for pointing fingers when you bring up a problem. I spent a couple of days trying to sort out an issue that was clearly on SiteSell's end, and all I got were a bunch of repetitive and off-topic questions instead of any real help.

After a few days of back and forth, they finally told me how to fix it myself, even though the issue was clearly their fault. It took me quite a while to get it sorted out.

At one point, after I expressed my frustration, tech support sent me a patronizing explanation about what a folder is. Seriously?

Not only was that absurd, but it had nothing to do with the actual problem I was facing.

Considering I only reach out to them maybe once a year, this seems to be a recurring issue.

We decided to move our assets from SiteSell to other platforms that are more modern and offer better customer service. When we reached out for help due to some issues, the support team was quick to reply via email and friendly, which was nice. However, a big source of annoyance was the lack of clarity in the communications and processes I received from SiteSell. The emails and info from their domain management portal were often confusing and contradictory. Plus, the absence of a phone number for customer support made things even trickier.

SiteSell might work for folks who aren’t too savvy with marketing since they handle a lot of the work for you. But if you’re looking for more direct access and control over your site, there are plenty of other vendors out there that can simplify things for you, probably at a similar price.

I suggest that SiteSell revamps its software to give users more control. They also need to take a good look at their communication methods and improve their processes to make life easier for their customers.

This could work for someone with more time...but I sure don't! I even forked out an extra $1000 for assistance, but that support fizzled out. Not convinced I got my money's worth. Uploading my pictures? Forget it! Just trying to get even ONE uploaded took me HOURS that I simply don't have! I can't wrap my head around how to format things, like primary and secondary, or how to create links. The 'help' articles are no good, because it could take 10 hours of digging and still come up empty. (Yep, I actually timed it!) If ONLY I could just write my articles and have someone else handle the formatting...but that just didn't happen. If I'm shelling out that kind of cash, I might as well hire someone to build my site.

Here’s what I appreciate most about SiteSell:

I've been a customer of Sitesell since around 2004 or 2005, which feels like ages in internet years. SBI has been constantly improving and keeps on doing so.

I manage five niche websites, none of which focus on internet marketing or promoting SBI. On two of them, I sell my own travel guide books, while another generates leads for a trekking and climbing business. Yeah, Ken can be a bit long-winded. But honestly, who cares? :) SBI sites consistently outperform the competition, and that’s what really counts for me.

SBI, also known as Sitesell or Solo Build It!, is a total joke. It's pretty wild to think that in 2017, Ken Evoy and his crew of affiliates—those folks making money off this product—are still dragging around this dead weight called SBI! and trying to sell it to folks who haven’t done their homework.

Almost all the glowing reviews you find online are penned by affiliates or those who stand to profit from Sitesell (like Sanet Geyser, who claims to be a 'Certified Sitesell Educator and Facilitator').

Ken really hounds customers and affiliates in his online forums, practically BEGGING them to write positive reviews to counter what he labels as 'fake' reviews (which are just negative ones he doesn’t like). In his quest for good feedback, he even goes to the extent of crafting lengthy posts in his forum—now public, by the way—where he 'teaches' folks how to write favorable reviews, then asks them to submit these so he and his Sitesell team can tweak and polish them.

The whole situation just stinks of desperation, and there’s a solid reason for that. The product is terrible. If he put as much effort into improving the product as he does into pleading for positive reviews and whining about 'fake' feedback, maybe he’d actually make some progress. But this nonsense has been dragging on for at least ten years, which, not surprisingly, is about how long the sites created with SBI! Solo Build It! have looked outdated.

Without a doubt, Sitesell is my top recommendation for anyone launching a website for the first time. I set out to create a site, but SBI showed me how to build a sustainable online life with real results. I've been with Sitesell since 2004, and I can switch my website whenever I want. I've tested various other platforms, and here's why I can't imagine being without SBI:
